Student Support – South Australia

Skills SA Funded Students | BCTA (RTO 22597)

Upfront Assessment of Need (UAN)

All Skills SA funded students complete an Upfront Assessment of Need (UAN) prior to enrolment. The UAN includes a Pre-Training Review (PTR), suitability and support needs assessment, and a supervised literacy and numeracy assessment (ACER CSPA).

The purpose is to confirm course suitability and identify support needs before a training account is created.

Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Literacy Support (LLND)

Reading and numeracy are assessed using the ACER Core Skills Profile for Adults (CSPA). Where required, results are referred to a Skills SA-approved literacy and numeracy specialist.

Foundation Skills Bridging Units or Tutor Support may be prescribed, and engagement is required to maintain eligibility for Skills SA subsidy.

Success and Wellbeing Services (SWS)

Success and Wellbeing Services (SWS) is a free support service for students doing Skills SA-funded training.

It helps you stay on track with your study and deal with personal or learning challenges.

You’ll work with a trained Success and Wellbeing Coach who supports you during your course and for up to 12 weeks after you finish.
